Eurodam Represents a Whole New Class for Holland America Line
Roland | July 6, 2007 at 11:40 am | In Latest News, Shipboard Amenities, Public Rooms |When it is delivered in summer 2008, ms Eurodam will represent Holland America Line’s next class of premium cruise ships. At 2,104 passengers, Eurodam will be the largest vessel ever built for the line. The 86,700-gross-ton Panamax Eurodam is under construction at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard for an estimated cost of $450 million.
Eurodam will have an additional 11th deck with a topside 144-seat Pan-Asian restaurant and 50-seat lounge that provide panoramic ocean views and a view of the Lido pool.
Other additions are an Explorer’s Lounge Bar, a new specialty restaurant adjacent to the Lido serving fine Italian food, luxury jewelry boutiques, new atrium bar area, enhanced and reconfigured show lounge with theater-style seating, and a new photographic and imaging center.
The Explorations CafĂ©, powered by The New York Times, will be located on the starboard side of the Crow’s Nest Lounge, providing a scenic backdrop to the specialty coffee bar, Internet cafe and music listening stations.
The added deck accommodate 63 more staterooms than the Vista-class ships. Forty-seven will be verandah staterooms and 10 will be a new style of stateroom with ceiling-to-floor and wall-to-wall panoramic windows. Of Eurodam’s 1,022 staterooms, 86 percent will be outside staterooms and 67 percent will have verandahs.

We checked in with Blog Board member Johan Groothuizen on this topic. Johan and his team, including hotel manager Stan Kuppens and Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, currently are putting the finishing touches on the dining plan for Eurodam. He promises that new and exciting things are in the works, and we’ll report them here as soon as the plans are finalized.

In looking over the deck plans I noticed that there seem to be areas on the lido deck that are partioned. Are these going to be private cabanas? And, if so, will these be available on a first come first served basis. Also, will the charge for these be on a daily basis or for the entire cruise? Thanks

Thanks for the question, helenp2. At this time, plans have yet to be finalized for the Lido Deck. Hopefully we’ll have an update in the near future.

Any updated news on the Lido deck area? Is that area on both sides of the pools going to contain cabanas? Thanks

Helen:
No news yet. The Lido Deck, like much of the deck plans for Eurodam, is still in flux. We’re at a critical time in the shipbuilding process where changes to the original design are being made. As soon as we have information, you’ll have information. Thanks for reading.

Helen: The Lido Deck is still kind of in flux, and Holland America is still tweaking the design and amenities. As soon as we know something, we’ll post it on the blog.

Back again with the same question. USA Today is now reporting that the Eurodam will have private cabanas on both the lido and observations decks. Can you be a bit more specific with some details. Will these be sold on a per diam basis or weekly charge? How large will they be? On the observation deck will they be covered overhead for protection from the sun? Anything you might be able to post will be appreciated. Thanks

Helen:
Sorry, no news yet, though we expect to get some into on the cabanas very soon. Stay tuned.

My wife and I just booked a Veranda Cabin up on Observation Deck, but now we are concerned about the Deck being to small to even sit on.
Anybody have any information on the size of those Decks?
We very much enjoy sitting out on the deck and if it won’t accommodate the both of us we will have to change our reservation.
